Free Medical Screening for retired players

Today Fourth and Goal’s Bruce Laird participated in a research study to determine long term effects on the brain after a playing career in the NFL. The study is being administered by ProHEALTH Care Associates in Long Island, New York.

The study is supported by the NFL and NFLPA and includes a physical examination, blood tests, tests of memory and other thinking abilities along with MRI scans of the brain. All tests will be performed at ProHEALTH facilities.

No need to worry if you’re not close to Long Island. ProHEALTH will arrange and pay for travel, hotel (if required) and meals. THERE ARE NO EXPENSES TO YOU.

In addition to retired NFL players, this study is open to former college and professional players who had less than one full season in the NFL. These former players will compose the “control group” used in the study.

We sincerely hope you will take advantage of this study by improving your overall health but the future health of retired players everywhere. If you are interested in participating in the study, contact Ms. Dani LeStrange of ProHEALTH at 914-462-7799 or DLestrange@prohealthcare.com. She will also ask you some questions about your medical history to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria for inclusion. (You can read ProHEALTH’s official invitation here.)
