In the NFL, as soon as a man shows his weakness, he is replaced and no one sees him ever again. The other men learn to keep their pain to themselves, writes former Denver Bronco Nate Jackson…

About fourthandgoalfoundation
The Baltimore Colts’ alumni have long been at the forefront of a movement to publicize the pension and disability issues faced by hundreds of retired NFL players. Our efforts on behalf of our teammate John Mackey have grown into a national 501(c)(3) organization, Fourth & Goal, which is dedicated to:
- Gaining representation for retired players;
- Advocating for improved pension and disability benefits for retired players; and
- Raising funds to immediately assist retired players in need.
from my seat …this will end up as a crime of passion and will be simply…you were with who and where unitl what time????…just fill in the blanks..then the fight escalates out of control ending in this tragic event …so dont read much into it or it will devirt players from the real goal …AND THAT IS TO GET X-PLAYERS made WHOLE..WE cant ALLOW a guy who made 1 million playing the game spending 1 million on fixing his body…nor can we have them uninsurable or saddled with exorbitant insurance premiums where as its unaffordable ….my main concern is that x amount of NFL proceeds must be put back into future liablities that are a direct result of the game>>>>>>>> PERIOD
while i opined on this a little while ago in another blog on this site ….this story is simply the media doing its job and that’s to report the news and write something …while the whole issue is tragic and i have empathy for ALL those involved …none of us should be distracted …its seems this tragic event is dovetailing into a second amendment issue…which is not good …..keep a few things in mind that are 100% true from my seat …such as
1) the 2 nd amendment insures the 1 st
2) had the colonists had gun control there would be no america
3) machine guns are illegal as they were proved to be mass killers in WW-1 and that’s why they are illegal today
4) the present advancements in weaponry ( guns ) such as banana clips where as they have almost as much killing ability as the machine gun which came into the arsenal in WW-1 …which means the government needs to tweak the laws to account for said advancements>>>> getting the government to do something reasonable is the problem ….less i digress turning to the government to be reasonable
the conclusion is….this tragic event MUST go into the ” blip ” file
AGAIN I AM IN NO WAY DIMINISHING THIS TRAGIC EVENT IN ANY WAY…SHAPE..OR FORM
RIP JB
Dr. Primus discusses the possibilities of Real Circumstances surrounding the game…
Published December 2, 2012 | By theprimusreport
In wake of the tragedy suffered at the Kansas City Chiefs football facility, Dr. Primus sheds some light on what could be deemed the ill effects of being in the league.
As we ponder the many reasons that could drive expired Kansas City Chief Javon Belcher to commit such a heinous crime and then take his own life, we realize that our health and well-being even transcends the greatest game in the world.
Before we pass judgement on the game itself, despite all its many imperfections and the toll that it seems to be taking on those gladiators in the arena, the overall “good” of the game far outweighs the “bad”, however you want to define good and bad. In this time of tragedy, however, we must address the possibility of this most glaring “bad”, and that the actions of this NFL player may have been the result of a form of mental illness. I have not been aware of a similar amount of recent suicides as the four recent NFL suicides since last April. With any suicide, there is an element of mental illness and sense of helplessness and hopelessness.
Our question for the NFL and his health care providers will be was his mental illness related to traumatic brain changes from repetitive head collisions, or mental illness from other causes such as hereditary factors or other drug interactions. No matter what the cause, we have to do a better job in addressing this fatal form of hopelessness that blocks the vision of any future worth living for…
Our sincere condolences to the family of Kasandra Perkins and Javon Belcher. Let’s hope that the NFL not only provides needed support to the young 3-month old child that is now left without both parents, but also aggressively addresses this issue of mental illness, as this can be the most serious sports injury of them all…
