I stood up about this in Independent Wrestling a few years ago. 2008-2009. I lost a good friend JC Bailey to an early death thanks to repeated concussions. Everyone acted like I was crazy when I stood up...then when JC passed away...they stopped calling me crazy...but were mad that I was right and try to pretend they never heard me say anything. I am thinking about donating my brain when it's all said and done. "How could I tell if I have brain damage if my brain is damaged?" is one of my biggest questions. Hopefully to the fans, sick stunts, head butts, chair shots, head drop suplexes, and the bumps I took as Diehard Dustin Lee were worth it. (Living on YouTube until they erase me from history.) I know if I pass early...it won't have been worth it to my family. That's for sure.

Will it? Unless our voices are raised collectively as one, former and active player alike, the can will continued to be kicked down the road.

This issue rests solely on the representatives of the players, present, past and future. Doesn't it?

With all that has recently been exposed regarding the plight of retired NFL players(health and disability issues, certain widow benefits disallowment, impending head trauma litigation, Legacy Fund disbursement, etc.) it is imparative the retired rank and file be represented by an association marching in lockstep with strength and solidarity advocating our just cause. I am fully confident a new, energetic and resourceful leader will come forth and replace George Martin as Executive Director of the Alumni Association. I know all retired players realize the importance of having a seat at the table regarding all future negotiations between the NFL and NFLPA, especially when enhanced benefits directly affect our rank and file.

Get it done! Olive Jordan and other families of NFL players deserve this benefit. If it wee not for players like Henry Jordan, none of you would be enjoying the financial windfall you all enjoy today. Wake up, do the right thing now! More players in the league today waste more money than these league pioneers ever hoped to make. It's up to you to stand tall and show the respect that is deserved to former players, their spouses and their families.

Aloha Fourth and Goal / Bruce and Jeff:
I appreciate your response and value your efforts on "Non-Vested" Former Players. I accept your invitation to participate or organise on behalf of those members of our NFLPA who are excluded from the majority of benefits. I believe though that a Higher Profile Member of the group be the front man of any group formed to accelerate this injustice. We need a NAME PLAYER recognizable to the Public and Press to head this effort. Someone highly recognizable who may have been injured in their first or second year while playing in the League.

As a back up Offensive Lineman who was injured in my first year with the L.A. Rams, I do not believe I have the recognition and value of someone known to the Public. Off hand, I can not recall someone who fits the profile, although I know their must be many. I would gladly research this further by scanning the Membership for a Player who would accept the responsibility of putting a "Public Face" on this important issue. I can not accept the current criteria, when we all know any of us could have been permanently injured on any play early in our career. I fractured my cervical spine in my first year's Contract that prevented me from further competition in the Sport. I know there are thousands of others. Why should we be separated from our former playing "Brothers" in Former Player Benefits? Their acceptance into the Union and Foundations would also increase Membership, participation, and power to the Goals of our organisations.

Personal Regards with Aloha,

Bruce,
You are right on point. How is it DeMaurice Smith, George Atallah, and the NFLPA can pick and choose who is worth defending. I watched the tape and am more than a little concerned that Brees, Atallah and De Smith all may be suffering from CTE if they didn't, "get any meaningful evidence, or any meaningful truth or facts regarding the bounties."

I think they all need a good dose of Hyperbaric oxygen treatments and Omega 3's. It certainly helped my NFL caused brain damage.

Bruce,
You nailed it. How is it that the NFLPA, DeMaurice Smith and George Atallah, "didn’t get any meaningful evidence, or any meaningful truth or facts” regarding the bounties. I watched the video. When you mention that little receiver has a bad ACL and "this one's on me", rubbing his fingers together, it doesn't take many brain cells to figure out what was meant by the comment.

I am more than a little concerned that De Smith, George Atallah and the NFLPA all may be suffering from CTE. I wonder if you can develop CTE from lieing?
